HIGHLIGHTS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Prof. Luo Guoan was born in ZhejiangProvince in 1946. Prof. Luo got his Bachelor degree in the Department of Biochemical Engineering at the ChinaEastTechnologyUniversity in 1969 and Master degree in the Department of Chemistry at the same university in 1982. Then, he worked as associate professor and deputy director in the Lab of Chemical Analysis at ChinaMedicineUniversity in Nanjing. In 1990, Prof. Luo was invited to work as a Visit Professor and later Research Scientist in Penn.StateUniversity in U.S. After four year experiences in U.S., Prof. Luo returned to China and resumed his teaching career in the Chemistry Department at TsinghuaUniversity. And Prof. Luo is now a Ph.D. director, being the deputy director of the AnalysisCenter, the deputy director of the institute of Pharmacology and assistant dean of the institute of Science and Engineering. Furthermore, Prof. Luo was also invited to act as the visit professor in HongkongUniversity, HongkongTechnologyUniversity and HongkongBaptistUniversity from 1994 to 1998.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Key academic field of Prof. Luo is the analysis of Life Science and the research and development of new drugs, focusing on Capillary Electrophoresis(CE) and it¡¯s application technology, Bio-MS, and Bio-electrochemistry. Key research achievement is the development of the Theory and Technology of CE, including the theory and application of Capillary Electrochromatograph, the joint technology of CE and MS and it¡¯s application in the relation of Bio-molecular and Effectiveness, and the Immunoassay CE.

Prof. Luo has been long experiencing in the research and development of new drugs and Traditional Chinese Medicines(TCM). After returning from U.S., he participated in preparing the program of the Modernization of TCM organized by the Ministry of Science & Technology. Prof. Luo proposed the theory of the chemical basis of TCM prescriptions and the functional part. Now he is taking the national program of TCM upgrade, the research program of the Ministry of Science & Technology, the key and basic program of the Foundation of Science and the research programs of the National Administrative Bureau of TCM, etc.

The academic awards got by Prof. Luo now include one second grade and two third grade awards of provincial progress of science & technology, one first grade award of the Chinese Analysis & Test Society. Prof. Luo has published two academic monographs, and also published about 50 research papers before 1990 and 90 papers after 1994 in the key research journeys of both international and national.
